With “F1” and “Marty Supreme” facing off for Best Picture at Sunday’s Academy Awards, looking to go down in sports movie history, the genre is in the limelight.
But while only three sports movies — “Rocky,” “Chariots of Fire” and “Million Dollar Baby” — have ever claimed a Best Picture Oscar, many have created indelible memories. Many have surpassed simple victory or defeat to serve as microcosms of life.
