Scott Shriner’s wife is an open book when it comes to her health journey.
Jillian Shriner, who has been married to the Weezer bassist since 2005, had undergone treatment for cancer last month. She was recovering and updating followers prior to being shot by Los Angeles cops and booked for attempted murder on Tuesday, April 8.
“I’d like to thank the Academy, my amazing hair and makeup team, and the lighting designers here at #glendaleadventisthospital,” the 51-year-old first wrote via Instagram on March 4, alongside a photo of herself in a hospital bed.
“As if they all hadn’t been through enough with the fires right next door! Yes, I have a little bit of the C word y’all. I know a lot of us do.”
“I’m here to thank the incredible oncology team here, who pulled me through a complicated operation without a hitch,” she added. “I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate and excellent medical care I receive in my life.”
In a follow-up post later that month, the author dove deeper into what she went through during her cancer journey.
“Three weeks now. Two back to back surgeries including a full hysterectomy,” she penned. “I feel called upon to mention it, because i know only two people who had this procedure and neither is with us today. They weren’t here for me to call, and ask what to expect. I’m saying: I’m here. Ask me. I’m okay and healing today. And look at this beautiful beam of light, this new journal I got, the baby yellow- bellied finches outside my bedroom window.”
She also gave a special shout-out to her other half, noting, “The family, who supports me. @sgs711 . That’s my story today. I thank you for your overwhelming support, and I love most of you. Kidding. I love you all. May we all be well tonight.”
Just a few weeks later, Jillian was arrested in the LA neighborhood of Eagle Rock.
According to a Wednesday press release, “On April 8, 2025, around 3:25 p.m., the California Highway Patrol requested a backup locating three misdemeanor hit-and-run suspects, who fled into a residential neighborhood. As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighboring residence armed with a handgun.”
LAPD officers claim they asked Jillian to drop her weapon “numerous times,” but she did not comply.
She was struck in the shoulder before she retreated inside her residence. According to police, she came back outside with the family’s babysitter and was taken into custody.
Jillian shares adopted sons Tariku and Jovanni with the musician, who has yet to address her arrest. She was released on a $1 million bond.
Jillian’s been open about her life over the years, publishing a memoir in 2010 titled “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem.” The book detailed the time the mother-of-two spent in the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah.
“At eighteen, Jillian Lauren was an NYU theater school dropout with a tip about an upcoming audition,” the synopsis reads. “The ‘casting director’ told her that a rich businessman in Singapore would pay pretty American girls $20,000 if they stayed for two weeks to spice up his parties. Soon, Jillian found herself on a plane to Borneo, where she would spend the next eighteen months in the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah, youngest brother of the Sultan of Brunei.”
In 2015, she released a second memoir: “Everything You Ever Wanted.”
The second book explores “Jillian’s most radical act” of “learning the steadying power of love” when she and Scott adopted their son Tariku, who has special needs, from Ethiopia.
