“Fargo” is a criminally underrated TV show, even if a bit uneven across five seasons. But the first episode of the debut season didn’t start with a bang.
It was fine … just fine for the first half of its run time. Nothing great, nothing bad, just quirky, but not that much more interesting than most. Then the basement scene happened. And the rest of the episode, and season, was a home run.
But there was at least a temporary window in which a viewer might have questioned whether they were going to keep going. The show needed that “stick around” moment.
There are some fantasy players who enter Week 4 needing their own basement scene, or they might wind up on the our bench — or worse.
