The St. John’s Red Storm’s Big East Tournament run continues this afternoon with the semifinals.
The No. 1 seed got started in the quarterfinals yesterday with a matchup against No. 9 Providence. In a dominant showing, the Johnnies beat their rivals 85-72.
“This is the best time to play basketball, in March, and our goal is to win a Big East Tournament championship,” Bryce Hopkins said after the win. “Providence just so happened to be our first matchup, so the biggest thing was just coming out today with a win.”
Today, they’ll face No. 4 seed Seton Hall in the semifinals. Seton Hall’s head coach Shaheen Holloway was recently named Big East coach of the year.
