Chances like this don’t come around often.

Team USA’s shining moment in international hockey happened 46 years ago, when the Winter Olympics could still be held in a tiny mountain village like Lake Placid.

Its only tournament victory in best-on-best competition that included professional players came in 1996, before all but seven players on the roster for the Milan Olympics were born.

All 25 players who will represent Team USA starting Thursday against Latvia have memories of Olympic hockey rooted in disappointment.
