Suddenly, the MCU stands for the Misunderstood Canines Unit.
Because the upcoming Marvel movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, will also feature a pup that’s been dubbed “Britain’s Ugliest Dog.”
“Her real name is Peggy,” Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, told Empire of the unique pet cast as Dogpool.
“The reason why I was a huge proponent for her was because she feels like the animal manifestation of Wade Wilson.”
Foul-mouthed Wade became his masked, alter-ego Deadpool in the 2016 film, after an injection gave him mutant superpowers, but also left his face and body disfigured.
“It’s love at first sight,” Reynolds, 47, said of his underdog character meeting the furry friend. “He loves Dogpool.”
Peggy, who’s thought to be a Pug and Chinese Crested Cross mix, was declared the ugliest dog in the UK during a 2023 contest put on my the photo firm Parrot Print.
At the time, the organizers prophetically said, “We never imagined we would discover a star, but that’s exactly what happened.”
Her doting owner, Holly Middleton, insisted that Peggy is “beautiful both inside and out.”
The pup skyrocketed to fame. And Middleton hinted at the major gig several months ago on Peggy’s Instagram — now called @dogpool — which already boasts some 83,400 followers.
“You guys… I’m auditioning for a HUGE role. You can ask but I won’t tell!,” the post read.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” hits movie theaters on July 26.
