Two players on the Marquette men’s lacrosse team were killed in a car crash Friday night in Milwaukee near the school’s campus.

University officials confirmed that Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud were the players who died in the wreck.

“Please keep Noah and Scott’s parents, siblings and families, and the Marquette Athletics and college communities in your prayers,” university president Kimo Ah Yun said in a statement on social media Friday. “Noah and Scott’s lives were taken too soon and we share in the heartbreak of their teammates, coaches and those who knew them personally.”

Milwaukee police said a 41-year-old driver hit the car containing six people at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday.

Snyder and Michaud were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Milwaukee police, and the other four vehicle occupants suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Marquette said four of their teammates were also in the car during the crash.

Police said that there is an ongoing investigation.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing charges, according to Fox 6.

Michaud, 19, was a sophomore goalie from Springboro, Ohio, and Snyder, 20, was a sophomore attack from Irving, New York.

According to USA Lacrosse, Snyder competed at the World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship in South Korea, helping the Haudenosaunee Nationals to a fourth-place finish.

“Noah demonstrated dedication to his sport, a strong sense of responsibility toward his teams, and genuine respect for his heritage,” the Haudenosaunee Nationals, which represents the Six Nations Haudenosaunee Confederacy, said in a statement posted to Facebook. “He represented the values and traditions of the Haudenosaunee with grace and dignity.

“While Noah’s time with us was far too brief, his legacy will endure in the memories and stories shared by family, friends, teammates, and the entire community. We honor his accomplishments, his spirit, and the joy he brought to all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Ah Yun also noted how both Snyder and Michaud were named to the Big East’s All-Academic team last year for each maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.0.
