Tony Hawk added a new line to his legendary résumé over the weekend: ballet performer.

The skateboarding icon, 57, made multiple surprising appearances during Golden State Ballet’s rendition of “The Nutcracker” on Saturday at the San Diego Civic Center in Southern California.

During the first act of the Christmas-themed play, Hawk rolled out on his board in a cap and a scarf, wowing the crowd in attendance.

A short time later, in the second act, he appeared once more while performers on stage were carrying out a Russian dance.

Hawk, in full costume, hit tricks on a quarterpipe alongside skateboarding star Katelyn West.

Hawk’s daughter, Kady, helped capture the moments from what Dad called an “Audiencecam.”

“I was invited to do a ‘cameo’ in @goldenstateballet’s Nutcracker performance in San Diego,” Hawk said on his Instagram page this week.

“Sometimes you just have to say yes to things WAY outside your comfort zone, especially when your daughter thinks is funny. Thanks to @rampcarnies for saving the day with this last-minute quarterpipe build, saving @sk8tlynwest and I from [potentially] the worst freestyle demo ever.”

In his post, Hawk shared some behind-the-scenes images from the evening, including one where he could be seen posing with a bunch of dancers who were dressed in mouse costumes.

Another video he posted showed just how much play-goers enjoyed his presence, as he and West received what appeared to be a standing ovation when they cruised out for the ballet’s curtain call.

It’s certainly a different venue than what Hawk’s used to, but same result nonetheless.
