The Jets plummeted back to Earth on Sunday in a disappointing 30-10 loss to the Bills.

The game was a reminder to everyone in the Jets universe that a turnaround under Aaron Glenn is not going to happen overnight. There was plenty of optimism and positivity after their Week 1 close loss to the Steelers. The offense played well, especially quarterback Justin Fields, and the team lost on a 60-yard field goal.

The good vibes evaporated on a sunny Sunday in East Rutherford this week as the Jets reverted to a script Jets fans have seen too many times to count in the past 15 years. An offense that can’t function, a defense that makes just enough mistakes and a coaching staff that looked overmatched.

But here’s the thing. The Jets were playing one of the best teams in football with one of the best quarterbacks in football and one of the best coaches in football. So, while it was a dispiriting loss because the Jets showed little fight, the context matters.
