This is the horrifying moment a giant crocodile suddenly lunged at a boat full of tourists and nearly dragged them to their death in Bolivia.

The shocking moment was captured on video yesterday near the village of Santa Rosa by a stunned onlooker on a nearby raft.

Footage shows how a vessel, which had five people on board, was nearly capsized by the ferocious animal.

In the video, one tourist can be seen peering over the side of the boat, when suddenly a black caiman – part of the croc family – emerges from the murky water.

The reptile can be seen opening its massive jaw before it slips back into the water.

The woman recording from a  nearby boat can be heard yelling: ‘Be careful! Be careful!’, as the croc leaves those on board screaming and shouting in panic.

‘He’s angry’, the onlooker goes on to say, as the driver of the boat desperately tries to reverse the vessel.

Miraculously, no one was injured in the near miss yesterday.

Caimans can measure up to six metres and weigh between 95kg and 300 kg.

They can usually be found in Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia as well as Bolivia.

The scare comes just a few weeks after a crocodile attacked and killed a woman in a coastal village in North Sumatra, Indonesia.

A 13ft reptile pounced on mother-of-four Nurhawati Zihura, 46, while she washed her feet in the sea.

Shocked locals heard her screams but could only watch as the beast thrashed her body in a haunting ‘death roll’ to disorientate her.

The croc then dragged away the housewife as she disappeared below the surface close to the Deaa Orahili Beach in the Pulau-Pulau Batu district of South Nias Regency.

Shockingly, the animal emerged around an hour later clutching Nurhawati’s lifeless body in its jaws.

Chilling footage shows how locals threw dead chickens into the water to distract the deadly croc and make it release the body.
