Hollywood loves a comeback story.
Now, plastic surgeons have revealed the secrets of the celebrities who’ve had the biggest glow-ups in recent years (despite many being in the latter halves of their careers).
After being mocked over plastic surgery rumors in January 2021, Demi Moore, 62, was widely praised for her age-defying and wrinkle-free look at the Golden Globes this month — where she won Best Actress in a Motion Picture.
Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan, 38, turned heads in late November after revealing her age-defying and youthful new look on the red carpet in Los Angeles following years of unflattering coverage as she battled drug addiction.
And Kristen Wiig, 51, made waves after she debuted her ‘refreshed’ looks on Saturday Night Live — following years spent expanding her resume beyond comedy.
Dr Anthony Youn, who is based in New York City, also commended Christina Aguilera, 44, for her transformation — after the star returned to the stage last year for a residency in Las Vegas.
And it’s not just them, with plastic surgeons having previously praised young celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter, 25, and Bad Bunny, 30, for their new looks.
Dr Youn said he thinks the celebrities have had subtle cosmetic work done that doesn’t ‘yell’, but rather ‘whispers’.
Lindsay Lohan pictured left in Mean Girls in 2004 and right after stepping out for the launch of her new rom-com in Los Angeles 20 years later. Surgeons suggest she has had lip filler and a nose job. Some also claim she may have had an upper bletharoplasty to remove skin from above her eyes. Her father has previously said she had Botox, filler and peels
Sabrina Carpenter is pictured above (left) in 2014 and again in May 2024 (right) at a fashion show in New York City. Plastic surgeons suggest the star has had a nose job and received filler in her cheeks and lips. Some suggest she may have also had an upper bletharoplasty. Carpenter has not commented on having any alleged surgery
‘There is a huge buzz on social media about certain celebrities who suddenly look incredible,’ he said introducing his video.
‘Yes, we’re talking about you, Lindsay Lohan, Christina Aguilera and Demi Moore.’
Dr Youn said celebrities reinventing their looks likely had an upper blepharoplasty, or an upper eyelid lift.
He did not say which had the surgery, but all three celebrities included in his video are rumored to have gone under the knife for these.
Plastic surgeons have previously speculated to DailyMail.com that both Lindsay and Christina have had work on their upper eyelids. Others have also suggested Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift and close friend Blake Lively have had the procedure.
This surgery, priced from $10,000, involves removing skin from the area above the eyes to open them up and give a more youthful appearance.
And the one-hour operation doesn’t leave a visible scar, with surgeons making incisions into the crease of the eyelid.
Dr Youn said: ‘The operation can be done so that the change is so subtle.
‘But [also] enough of a change that it can make the upper eyelids look like they did when the person was in their 20s.’
All four celebrities have either denied having an upper bletharoplasty or not responded to the allegations.
Demi, pictured in January 2021 (left) and in October last year (right), has long been known for maintaining her youthful looks. Surgeons suggest she may have had laser skin resurfacing or a chemical peel to achieve her smooth skin. Some surgeons suggest she may have had a facelift
Kristen Wiig, 51, is shown above in 2013 (left) and again in April last year (right). Some surgeons have suggested she had a facelift, but others also say the transformation could be partially down to the makeup and lighting. Kristen has not responded to the allegations
The other major surgery Dr Youn mentioned was a lower facelift, or a facelift to the lower third of the face.
Again, he did not say exactly which celebrity he believes has had the procedure, but all three celebrities he mentioned in the introduction — Lindsay, Christina and Demi — have previously been accused of having some form of face lift.
Surgeons have also previously alleged that Bad Bunny, 30, had a deep plane facelift — which lifts and repositions deep layers of facial tissue — and that Kristen Wiig has had a facelift.
A $3,500 to $20,000 lower facelift operation involves lifting the skin in this area, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
Typically done on men and women between 40 and 70 years old, some surgeons have reported in recent years people in their 30s have come forward for the procedure.
Some surgeons urge people in their 30s to have the surgery, saying it can give better results at this age because the skin is more elastic.
None of the celebrities have confirmed they had the surgery, or have denied that they had a facelift.
During the 10-minute video, Dr Youn devoted eight minutes to discussing the various skin treatments the celebrities are likely using.
These included xeomin, a Botox-like agent that has been designed to treat frown lines and lasts for up to six months, and a morpheus8 treatment, which uses radiofrequency energy and micro needling to tighten skin, reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture.
He also suggested many celebrities may be using Ozempic or a similar weight-loss injection to help themselves appear more youthful.
Lindsay has previously said she uses morpheus8 and IPL, or intense pulse light, which is great for evening the skin and removing unwanted spots and pigment.
Christina has previously said she is a ‘big fan’ of moisturizer, while Demi has said she uses an $800 cream full of peptides on her face.
Plastic surgeons told DailyMail.com previously that Aguilera has likely undergone a facelift to sculpt her cheekbones and smooth the lines between her nose and lips. She has also likely undergone filler there, as well as to her lips. There are also suggestions that she used a weight-loss drug like Ozempic, although she denies this
One of the most dramatic celebrity transformations debuted in recent years is likely that of Bad Bunny (pictured). Aged 30 years old, plastic surgeons say the rapper may have received filler in his lips and jawline to augment his facial features, as well as a nose job
Overtime, men gain about 5.7lbs every decade — he said — while women gain around 12lbs per decade.
Losing weight can help to reverse these age-related changes, Dr Youn said, and make a celebrity appear more like their youthful selves.
Christina Aguilera, 44, was previously accused of using weight-loss drugs after she sported a much thinner frame last year.
She denied the suggestion, however, telling reporters: ‘I have maturity now where I just don’t give a f*** about your opinion.’
