An egregious error ended the Phillies’ season.
Tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 11th inning with the bases loaded, Philadelphia reliever Orion Kerkering appeared to panic after he muffed a comebacker hit by Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages, throwing the ball out of the reach of catcher J.T. Realmuto, allowing the game-winning run to score.
Kerkering stood on the mound with his hands on his knees, looking down, while Dodger Stadium roared over the wild turn of events.
The 2-1 win on Thursday sent the Dodgers to the NLCS to face the winner of the Cubs-Brewers series.
And for the second straight year, the Phillies have been bounced in the NLDS.
