The Sun Belt takes center stage on Thursday night as Troy looks to keep its hopes for a conference championship alive against Old Dominion.

The Trojans are 4-1 and in second place in the Sun Belt’s West Division. They do control their own destiny, however, as Troy’s season finale is at Southern Miss, who currently reside in first place at 5-0.

Old Dominion is not going to catch James Madison in the East Division, but the Monarchs have a nine-win season in their sights if they can get by Troy on Thursday.

Troy vs. Old Dominion odds, prediction

At first glance, this line could seem out of whack. Old Dominion and Troy are both 6-3 through nine games and near the top of their respective divisions in the Sun Belt. Yet, the betting market has tagged this as a one-sided tilt with Old Dominion sitting as a 10.5-point favorite.

The Monarchs do have some notable results on their schedule, including wins over Liberty and Virginia Tech, plus a decent showing against Indiana, but the Trojans bring something to the table in that regard, too.

Betting on College Football?

Troy hung with Clemson until the fourth quarter and also gave a decent account of themselves against Memphis. The Trojans don’t have an eye-popping win, but they’ve held their own in 2025.

Perhaps the reason why this line is so lopsided is that the betting market is not convinced that Troy’s offense can keep pace with Old Dominion.

The Trojans rank 125th in yards per play, 73rd in points per game, and SP+ has them as the 90th-best offense in FBS. Old Dominion’s offense is 12th in yards per play, 21st in yards per game, 51st in points per game, and grades out as the 54th-best in the country.

Troy’s defensive metrics are much more respectable than the offense’s, but we’re not talking about an elite unit here.

The Monarchs have torched a handful of opponents already this season, and if they’re up for this game, they should have no issue putting some distance between themselves and the Trojans.

The Play: Old Dominion -10.5 (-110, FanDuel)
