The Cornhuskers obviously have a ways to go to match the Hoosiers, but it is nonetheless a nice story.
Nebraska visits Northwestern on Saturday as a 5.5-point favorite, with a total of 148.5 points.
The Wildcats are winless in conference play at 0-6 and not meeting the expectations that coach Chris Collins has set, having reached the NCAA Tournament in three of his previous 12 seasons in Evanston.
He just doesn’t have the horses.
Northwestern ranks in the conference’s bottom three in 3-point attempts, makes and percentage. But that is where Nebraska thrives, leading the Big Ten in attempts and makes.
Eventually the Huskers will suffer a loss but it should not happen here. The Huskers are on a roll, covering their last three games and showing resiliency.
That includes their last road game, when they rallied from a 16-point deficit in the second half to beat Indiana. Jamarques Lawrence led the way with 27 points for the Cornhuskers.
