More than 2 million pounds of Korean barbecue pork jerky sold in Costco and Sam’s Club stores has been recalled over possible contamination with pieces of metal, the US Department of Agriculture said Friday.

LSI Inc. – an Alpena, South Dakota-based company – recalled about 2,277,540 pounds of Golden Island Fire-Grilled Pork Jerky Korean Barbecue after multiple complaints from customers who found wiry metal in the product.

The company said the metal wires came from the conveyor belt used in production. There have been no reports of injuries linked to the recall.

The jerky was sold in Costco and Sam’s Club stores nationwide in 14.5-ounce and 16-ounce pouches “best by” dates from Oct. 23, 2025, through Sept. 23, 2026. The bags have the establishment number “M279A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Since the jerky has a shelf life of one year, safety officials are concerned that some impacted pouches may be in consumers’ pantries.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is urging consumers not to eat the jerky.

The product should be thrown in the trash or returned to the place of purchase, according to the FSIS.
