This is what baseball has been waiting for. 

When David Stearns joined Steve Cohen to run the Mets, officials throughout the sport were curious to see how the respected executive who ran small-market Milwaukee reacted to having a bigger budget. 

And while last year’s signing of Juan Soto was a huge — and expensive — move for the Mets, it didn’t have the overall impact on the organization that this offseason has. 

To recap: Gone are Pete Alonso, Edwin Díaz, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil and Luisangel Acuña.
