Another football coach has left Ann Arbor — this one, by his own accord.

In the wake of ex-head coach Sherrone Moore’s stunning firing and arrest, Michigan’s Chip Lindsey has agreed to become the next offensive coordinator at Missouri.

While terms of the hiring “were not disclosed,” sources told ESPN that Lindsey signed on for a three-year commitment.

Lindsey relinquished his play-calling duties in Ann Arbor after just one season amid the scandal surrounding the program’s disgraced former skipper.

“I could not be happier to have the opportunity to work with Eli Drinkwitz in Columbia,” Lindsey said Sunday in a Missouri release. “What Coach Drinkwitz has done at Mizzou over that past six years is remarkable. You couple that with the commitment the University of Missouri has made to the football program, this is one of the most attractive coordinator jobs in the country. The commitment and infrastructure in place from an organizational standpoint and the talent on the field is truly exciting.”

Moore was fired and subsequently taken into custody on Dec. 10 after the university found evidence that he had engaged in a years-long affair with a staff member.

The 39-year-old father of three was soon charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking in a domestic relationship, and breaking and entering.

Lindsey leaves behind the Big Ten’s 11th best scoring offense (27.6 points per game) under his play-calling, compared to 14th (22.0) the year before his arrival.

Before his quick stint with the Wolverines, Lindsey was the OC at North Carolina, UCF, Auburn, Arizona State, and Southern Miss — also serving as Troy’s head coach from 2019-21.

“[Lindsey] does a tremendous job of not only coaching and developing players but organizing and implementing the offense,” Drinkwitz said in a statement. “He is an excellent offensive mind with a wide range of experience.”

Lindsey takes the play-calling reins from Kirby Moore, who is set to become the next head coach of Washington State.

In Ann Arbor, Michigan will elevate co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Steve Casula to OC ahead of its Citrus Bowl matchup with Texas on New Year’s Eve.

The Wolverines (9–3, 4th Big Ten) will be led by interim head coach Biff Poggi.
