Michelle Trachtenberg’s boyfriend has spoken for the first time since the “Gossip Girl” actress’s sudden death.
Jay Cohen, a Hollywood talent agent, was at the Los Angeles home he shared with Trachtenberg on Wednesday when he answered the door and responded to a reporter’s question for comment.
“The family will not be commenting on the tragedy,” an allegedly teary-eyed Cohen told the Daily Mail.
The Post broke the news of Trachtenberg’s death on Wednesday. The “Buffy the Vampire Star” alum was 39.
Her mother found her around 8 a.m. Wednesday at her luxury apartment in Manhattan’s Central Park South neighborhood, sources told The Post.
“It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away,” Trachtenberg’s rep Gary Mantoosh confirmed in a statement to The Post. “The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time,” Mantoosh said.
The “Gossip Girl” star underwent a liver transplant within the last year. Per sources, it’s believed her body may have rejected the liver transplant and that Trachtenberg died of natural causes.
Tributes to Trachtenberg quickly poured in after her fans, friends and former costars learned of her untimely passing.
Rosie O’Donnell, who played opposite Trachtenberg in “Harriet the Spy” (1996), along with Trachtenberg’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” cast-mates James Marsters and Alyson Hannigan, and her fellow “Gossip Girl” vet Ed Westwick, were among those remembering the star on Wednesday.
She reportedly began dating Cohen in 2020. Earlier this month, the actress wished her beau a happy Valentine’s day in a post on Instagram.
“Happy Valentine’s Day to the man who sits still long enough for me to paint his face,” Trachtenberg captioned a Halloween photo of her dressed as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde next to Cohen as Frankenstein.
