Megyn Kelly called out MSNBC host Rachel Maddow over her on-air criticism of the left-leaning network’s decision to remove hosts including Joy Reid, saying she “took her boss’s faces and rubbed them in s–t.”

“She is one of the most annoying people on television,” the Sirius XM host said. “She oozes sanctimony and self-righteousness and here’s the real capper. She took her boss’s faces and rubbed them in shit last night,” Kelly said.

MSNBC’s cancellation of Joy Reid and Alex Wagner’s shows prompted Maddow’s rant amidst a major network-wide reshuffling ordered up by new boss, MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler.

Kelly called upon Maddow’s two bosses, Kutler and Mark Lazarus, the CEO of MSNBC’s parent company, to take action for Maddow’s remarks.

“If one of my employees ever did this to me… I would fire them so fast and you couldn’t get me to back down with claims of ‘viewpoint discrimination, ‘you’re cracking down on free speech,’ no, you work for me,” Kelly said.

Kelly also criticized Maddow’s implication that MSNBC’s actions had a racial bias, as she identified both canceled anchors, Reid and Wagner, as non-white hosts.

On air, Maddow said it was unnerving to see “both of our nonwhite hosts in primetime are losing their shows” and that it “feels indefensible.”

Kelly began the show by reading various definitions of the word “sanctimony” — when one acts morally superior– to describe Maddow.

“It is not my call, and I understand that. But that’s what I think,” Maddow said on-air about MSNBC’s decision to remove her fellow hosts. MSNBC
The recent cancellation of Joy Reid’s evening program “The ReidOut,” airing on MSNBC since 2020, has sparked outrage amongst MSNBC’s loyal viewers. MSNBC

“Just getting on to randomly disagree with their decisions and accuse them of racism because you would’ve come to a different conclusion, she should be fired,” Kelly said.

Kelly said what Maddow “got away with on the air last night” was “disrespectful.”
