A man who is wanted in connection with the murder of a teenager in Ormskirk last year has been detained in Greece, police have confirmed.

Matthew Daulby, from Liverpool, was killed in a double stabbing during a mass brawl on Railway Road.

The 19-year-old was knifed in the chest and died in hospital on July 19 last year.

Over the past 16 months Lancashire Constabulary has repeatedly urged to the public to help locate 21-year-old Thomas Dures.

In March, Henry Houghton was previously jailed for life for the murder of Daulby.

Houghton, 19, will serve a minimum term of 20 years.

Yesterday, Lancashire Police confirmed that Thomas Dures had been arrested, Manchester Evening News reported. He then appeared in court on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the National Crime Agency confirmed it had been working with Lancashire Constabulary over the past 16 months in connection with the incident.

Matthew Daulby was described by his family as a ‘compassionate, loving and funny man’ who had a ‘zest for life’.

Speaking after the sentencing of Houghton, Mr Daulby’s father Gary told BBC News the loss of his son was ‘incomprehensible’.

He said: ‘The yearning to see Matthew again is overwhelming. Not seeing him grow up, pass his driving test, get his first house, get married, have children. This has all been taken away from Matthew and us as a family.

‘We are tortured on a daily basis by what happened to Matthew on that fateful night.

‘There is a small comfort in the fact that Henry Houghton has been sent to prison for a very long time. We have also been given a life sentence of grief.’
