Mayer loves the track “Unconditionally.”
John Mayer revealed Monday that he still listens to his 2013 duet “Who You Love,” which features his former girlfriend Katy Perry.
“Isn’t that great? I’m glad we did that,” said Mayer, 45, while appearing on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”
“I listen to that every once in a while and I go, ‘I like that song.’ I like the way that she sounds on the song. She got that way of singing down and met the challenge of that song. It was so much fun.”
According to the “Gravity” singer, the track served as a “prototype” for his 2021 album “Sob Rock.”
“It was just at the point where I was saying, ‘Why can’t I make music from a different era,’” explained Mayer to Cohen, 55. “If I love a style of music and I want to make it, like a genre, why can’t I make music that I was pretending was from a different era?”
Mayer and Perry, 38, dated off and on between 2012 and 2015 shortly after the “New Light” singer ended his romance with Taylor Swift.
Several X (formerly Twitter) were quick to sound off on the revelation.
“I was rooting for this couple, it’s a shame it didn’t work out, what matters now is that you’re happy with the one you love,” stated one user sagely.
“The song is really perfect, Katy’s relationship has paid off too much,” gushed a second person.
“I think it’s mature to talk about your ex like that,” commented a third person.
“Miss them,” sniped a fourth person on the social media site.
The Post reached out to Perry for comment.
Mayer admitted that several songs on his album “The Search for Everything” were about the “Dark Horse” songstress and their breakup.
“Who else would I be thinking about,” laughed Mayer while talking about his song “Still Feel Like Your Man” with the New York Times In 2017.
“And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So, it’s like, give me this, people.”
Since finally ending things with Mayer, Perry went on to infamously date the embattled Russell Brand before getting engaged to Orlando Bloom.
Perry shares a 3-year-old daughter with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor.
