Mercedes Moné’s record-breaking championship win deserved a better setup, and it is a shame the circumstances may not have allowed for that to be the case.

The former WWE star came to AEW in March 2024 to a ton of deserved fanfare, as adding one of WWE’s Four Horsewomen of Wrestling to your division is a big deal — especially a disgruntled one that walked out on the company you are trying to compete with.

Moné has made good on many of her expectations, having some of the best matches in the division’s history, helping to raise the profile of Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Stephanie Vaquer (even though she chose WWE) and Alex Windsor.

She’s made good on her promise from Day 1 of taking her and AEW’s brand global with her title collecting. Her belts include wins in Mexico, Great Britain, Austria and Poland. She recently became the longest reigning TBS champion at 511 days and counting, to erase Jade Cargill from the top of the list.
