The refs called tripping against the Dolphins offense — but they looked quite mistaken.

Early in the second quarter during Thursday night’s game between the Dolphins and Ravens, officials called back a crucial play for Miami over what they deemed a tripping penalty on running back Ollie Gordon III.

Gordon, who was blocking during the play, appeared to fall unintentionally while running backward, causing Baltimore linebacker Mike Green to trip.

Officials ultimately called a 15-yard penalty for tripping against Miami, negating a huge pass to wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, which would have put the Dolphins in the red zone.

Following the controversial call, Gordon was seen irate on the sidelines, screaming at the refs while coaches attempted to calm him down.

“Terry do you mind hopping in here? I didn’t see his leg whip or any trip at all,” commentator Kirk Herbstreit asked rules analyst Terry McAulay on the Amazon Prime broadcast.

“Now Kirk, that’s not a foul,” McAulay, a former NFL official, replied. “He gets him with the lower part of his rear end, torso, or whatever. He doesn’t raise his leg and impede or obstruct the opponent. It’s an incorrect call.”

Shortly following the call, Gordon suffered an ankle injury after landing awkwardly during a play.

Gordon, 21, was listed as questionable to return.

The Dolphins trailed Baltimore 14-6 headed into halftime, so the blunder from the officials has proven to be costly for Miami.

At halftime, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa racked up 152 passing yards while completing 15-of-22 passes.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson notched two passing touchdowns, throwing both to tight end Mark Andrews, whose name has swirled in trade rumors as the deadline approaches.

With Baltimore holding a disappointing 2-5 record heading into Thursday’s game, and with Andrews in the final year of his four-year, $56 million contract, the Ravens could be inclined to trade the three-time Pro Bowler for draft picks.
