TAMPA — Sitting in the visiting dugout at BayCare Ballpark on Sunday, Aaron Boone noted how there had been plenty of headlines this spring about the Yankees’ top two pitching prospects, Carlos Lagrange and Elmer Rodriguez.

“But Benny’s right there with them,” Boone said.

As in Ben Hess, the Yankees’ first-round pick in 2024 who went on to toss two scoreless innings against the Phillies later that day.

Apparently Boone did not yet know that this week’s newsletter was scheduled to dig in on Hess, but we are here to oblige and give the big right-hander out of Alabama some spotlight.
