Tarris Reed Jr. ‘s UConn Huskies are entering the 2026 March Madness tournament under unusal circumstances.

On one hand, Dan Hurley’s squad should hold their heads high after secured a No. 2 seed on the heels of their impressive 29-5 season that included a sparkling 22-1 start.

However, they also lost two of their final four games, including a blowout 72-52 defeat at the hands of St. John’s in the Big East Tournament final.

Next up, they’ll face off against Alex Wilkins’ 15-seeded Furman Paladins. Although their strength of schedule was quite a bit easier than UConn’s, they have something that the Huskies are missing right now: pride.

UConn vs. Furman: what to know

  • When: March 20, 10 p.m. ET

The 22-12 club finished 2025-26 with three straight victories. Throw in the fact that Bob Richey’s Paladins upset No. 4 Virginia in 2023 and this team looks downright dangerous.

The winner faces the victor of the No. 7 UCLA vs. No. 10 University of Central Florida game.
