Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs are playing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder…again.

As you may recall the two squads met on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at San Antonio’s home Frost Bank Center. That game resulted in a 130-110 victory for the Spurs. Keldon Johnson led the way with 30 points and Julian Champagnie had 10 rebounds. Shail Gilgeous-Alexander was the Thunder’s high scorer.

San Antonio now accounts for two of Oklahoma City’s four losses so far this season as the rivalry between the top two teams in the Western Conference.

“It feels like saying it’s a rivalry would be a weird thing because it’s something that builds naturally,” center Wembanyama said after the Tuesday victory. “I didn’t say that it’s impossible that it can be [a rivalry] in the future. I hope it will be soon. But we’re definitely getting closer. They’re going to be locked in [on Christmas] more than any time before, probably. It’s a resourceful team, but we’re going to be there too.”
