After taking part in the NHL’s first-ever real-time animated broadcast in 2023, the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals will face off in tonight’s “Inside Out Classic,” a fully animated alternate broadcast modeled after the world and characters of Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out.”
“Inside Out,” which premiered in 2015, follows the emotions inside the head of a young girl, Riley. As a hockey player herself, one of the segments of Riley’s mind is called “Hockey Island,” and that’s where today’s animated game will “take place.” Animated avatars of the Rangers and Capitals players will skate alongside Riley and her emotions.
