This is one for the history books.
When the Waashington Capitals take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at 3 p.m. today, Alex Ovechkin will meet Sidney Crosby on the ice for the 100th time in their storied careers.
That’s more than an entire season’s worth of games.
Although the stakes are high — both Pittsburgh and Washington are on the playoff bubble — the main attraction will be seeing these longtime rivals who have been playing against each other since 2005 (!) go skate-to-skate in a milestone contest.
“I’m just trying to enjoy these last few matchups with Sid,” Ovechkin, 40, said. “We’ve had so many epic battles over the years, and I’m grateful we’ve both been able to play at such a high level for so long.”
