As the end of the US Open draws near, tonight’s semifinal matchups will both feature a Grand Slam champion facing off against an American seeking their first major title.

First up, the defending US Open champ Aryna Sabalenka will face Jessica Pegula in a rematch of last year’s US Open final for a spot in this year’s final. Sabalenka advanced without playing a quarterfinal after her opponent, Marketa Vondrousova, withdrew with an injury.

Following that, Naomi Osaka will continue her US Open run in a semifinal against Amanda Anisimova. It marks Osaka’s first Grand Slam semifinal since 2021. Anisimova advanced yesterday with a quarterfinal win over Iga Swiatek. Anisimova and Swiatek last met in the Wimbledon final, where Swiatek bested Anisimova; yesterday, Anisimova got her redemption.
