The first Marvel project of 2026 is almost here.
“Wonder Man,” a miniseries set in the MCU, premieres tonight, Jan. 27, on Disney+.
The show is the second MCU Disney+ original series to fall under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which identifies the series as a grounded, character-driven part of the larger Marvel Universe, sharing continuity with the films and prior shows without requiring any in-depth knowledge of things that came before it. All of that is a longer way to say you can jump right into “Wonder Man” without having to do any major MCU homework first.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton is one of the creative forces behind “Wonder Man” alongside showrunner and sitcom vet Andrew Guest.
“Wonder Man” follows Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), an actor and superpowered individual hiding his powers in hopes of getting cast in a reboot of “Wonder Man.” It’s all very meta and seems to poke fun at the superhero genre.
Also hoping to be cast in “Wonder Man” is Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley), a failing actor who appeared as the face of the Mandarin in “Iron Man 3” and returned in “Shang-Chi.”
Ahead of its debut, “Wonder Man” holds an 89% Certified Fresh rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Another aggregator, Metacritic, is reporting generally favorable reviews from critics as well.
