The road to the World Series continues with Game 1 of the American League Championship Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners tonight, Oct. 12.

The Blue Jays punched their ticket to the ALCS last week with a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the ALDS. Today marks the Blue Jays’ first ALCS appearance since 2016.

It took Seattle five games and then some to advance into the ALCS; tied at 2-2 at the end of the ninth inning in Game 5, the Mariners took the Detroit Tigers to 15 innings before Jorge Polanco’s walk-off single ended the game. The Mariners have an even longer ALCS drought; their last appearance was in 2001.

Mariners vs. Blue Jays, ALCS game 1: what to know

  • When: Oct. 12, 8:03 p.m. ET
  • Where: Rogers Centre (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
  • Channel: FOX
  • Streaming: DIRECTV (try it free)

The teams have somewhat recent playoff history, too; in the 2022 AL Wild Card Series, the Mariners came back from an 8-1 deficit to eliminate the Blue Jays at home.

Here’s how to tune in to Game 1 of the ALCS between the Mariners and the Blue Jays without cable.

Mariners vs. Blue Jays time:

Game 1 of the ALCS between the Blue Jays and the Mariners will start at 8:03 p.m. ET tonight, Oct. 12.

How to watch Mariners vs. Blue Jays ALCS Game 1 for free

If you don’t have cable, you’ll need a live TV streaming service to stream the MLB playoffs for free. One option we love is DIRECTV, which comes with a five-day free trial and starts at $49.99/month for genre packs, with plenty of subscription options and genre packs that include FOX.

The Mariners vs. Blue Jays game will also stream live on FOX ONE and fuboTV; both have free trials before payment begins.

Mariners vs. Blue Jays Game 1 starting pitchers

Just like he did in Game 1 of the ALDS, Kevin Gausman will start Game 1 of the ALCS for the Toronto Blue Jays. In the regular season, he was 10-11 with a 3.59 ERA.

Bryce Miller will be on the mound for the Mariners. He is the only healthy starter who didn’t pitch in the marathon Game 3, and he’ll be making this start on three days rest after starting Game 4 of the ALDS.
