The fourth and final major of the tennis year is here: it’s time for the 2025 US Open!

This year’s US Open is expanding to 15 days, prompting the first weekend start to the main draw in the Open Era.

In the men’s draw, Jannik Sinner is entering as the No. 1 seed and defending US Open Champion. He’ll face stiff competition from No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz (though the two will only meet in the event that they both advance to the final), Americans on the rise Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz, and tennis legend and four-time US Open champ Novak Djokovic, who is chasing his 25th career grand slam title.

The No. 1 seed in the women’s draw, Aryna Sabalenka, is also the defending US Open champion. Iga Swiatek and Americans Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula round out the top four seeds. After appearing in the mixed doubles tournament last week, Venus Williams is also set to return to singles action in her first round match against No. 11 Karolina Muchova; Williams’ last appearance at any of the four majors was the 2023 US Open.

How to watch the 2025 US Open for free

If you don’t have cable or a TV antenna, you’ll need a live TV streaming service to stream matches from the US Open live for free. One option we love is DIRECTV, which comes with five days free and starts at $49.99/month, with plenty of subscription options and genre packs that includes ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC.

You can also take advantage of free trials of fuboTV (seven days) and Hulu + Live TV (three days) to make a combined 15 days of free streaming — long enough to watch the entire US Open without paying a cent.

Other ways to stream the US Open

You can also watch every match, including some exclusive ones, on ESPN’s new DTC streaming service. The $11.99/month Select plan will give you access to the matches, but springing for the $29.99/month Unlimited package will also include 24/7 live ESPN and more.
