After several upsets during the first week of the tournament, Fritz is the only American left in the tournament, and the sole chance the United States has to produce a men’s grand slam winner since Andy Roddick’s 2003 US Open victory.
In tonight’s quarterfinal, Fritz will face No. 7 Novak Djokovic. As a 24-time Grand Slam champion tied for the most all-time among men or women, Djokovic is chasing his record-breaking 25th in this year’s US Open.
