The Fall Classic is here, and the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers will face off with the Toronto Blue Jays in the best-of-seven series kicking off tonight.

The Dodgers have played in four of the last eight World Series, winning two: 2020, and of course, last year in 2024. They’re hoping to become the first back-to-back World Series champs since the Yankees won three in a row between 1998 and 2000.

The Blue Jays haven’t been to the World Series since going back-to-back in 1992 and 1993. Just four wins stand between them and the Commissioner’s Trophy, but they’ll have to get past the Dodgers. Blue Jays manager John Schneider calls the current world champs “beatable.” Ahead of Game 1, the Jays added Bo Bichette to the roster; he last played on Sept. 6 where he sustained a knee injury.

  • When: Oct. 24, 8 p.m. ET
  • Where: Rogers Centre (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

Game 1, of course, is huge, and the stats don’t lie: the winner of World Series Game 1 has gone on to win it all in 76 of the prior 120 World Series (63%).

Here’s what you need to know about tuning in to Game 1 of the World Series between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays without cable.

World Series Game 1 between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET tonight, Oct. 24.

How to watch Dodgers-Blue Jays World Series Game 1 for free

If you don’t have cable, you’ll need a live TV streaming service to stream the World Series for free. One option we love is DIRECTV, which comes with a five-day free trial and starts at $49.99/month for genre packs, with plenty of subscription options and genre packs that include FOX.

Sling TV is another affordable way to stream MLB games; its Select plan includes FOX and starts at $19.99/month.

Dodgers vs. Blue Jays World Series Game 1 starting pitchers

The Dodgers will start LHP Blake Snell in tonight’s Game 1. Snell also opened the ALCS for the Dodgers; he threw eight scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and zero walks with 10 strikeouts. This postseason, he’s 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA and 28 strikeouts.

Trey Yesavage will start Game 1 for the Toronto Blue Jays. The rookie, who becomes the second-youngest World Series Game 1 starter in history, started three games this postseason (following just three starts in the regular season). In those three games, he struck out 22 batters.
