It’s time to go back a long time ago to a galaxy far, far away.

Over two years after the first season wrapped, “Andor” is back for its second and final season.

The Star Wars Disney+ series stars Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, reprising his role from 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The first season, set five years before the events of “Rogue One” showed how Andor went from thief to rebel spy, and now, in Season 2, we’ll watch Andor evolve into the hero he is in “Rogue One.”

Season 2 of “Andor” will has 12 episodes that will be split into three-episode mini-arcs airing over four weeks. Each block of episodes will cover roughly a year of the timeline leading up to the fateful events of “Rogue One.”

The new season currently holds a 98% Certified Fresh rating from aggregated critics reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and the widespread critical acclaim proves that this show is not one to be missed.

‘Andor’ Season 2 release date:

The first three episodes of “Andor” Season 2 will be released on April 22. The show has a unique release schedule, which you can find out more about below.

What time does ‘Andor’ Season 2 come out?

You’ll need a Disney+ subscription to watch “Andor,” but luckily, it will be available no matter which plan you’re subscribed to.

The service offers two streaming plans: one with ads for $9.99/month and one without ads for $15.99/month.

Get the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ Bundle:

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ Bundles or a Disney+ and Hulu bundle with Max. These bundles start at $10.99/month for ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu and goes up to $29.99/month for ad-free Disney, ad-free Hulu, and ad-free Max.

  • Season 2, Episode 12: Tuesday, May 13

Who is in the cast of ‘Andor’ Season 2?

Most of the main characters and actors from “Andor” Season 1 will return to reprise their roles in the second season.

  • Diego Luna as Cassian Andor – a thief on a path to join the Rebel Alliance. Luna also played the role in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
  • Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen – a mechanic, black market dealer, and Andor’s close friend
  • Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma – an Imperial Senator secretly funding the Rebel Alliance
  • Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael – Caleen’s dealer contact and part of the Rebel Alliance
  • Denise Gough as Dedra Meero – an Imperial Security Bureau supervisor
  • Kyle Soller as Syril Karn – a Deputy Inspector for Preox-Morlana (Pre-Mor) Authority
  • Kathryn Hunter as Eedy Karn – Syril’s mother
  • Joplin Sibtain as Brasso – Andor’s co-worker and friend
  • Muhannad Bhaier as Wilmon Paak – the Repaak Salyard salvage shop owner
  • Faye Marsay as Vel Sartha – Mothma’s cousin and a rebel leader on Aldhani, in a relationship with Cinta
  • Varada Sethu as Cinta Kaz – the Aldhani rebel team’s medic and healer, in a relationship with Vel
  • Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera – a Clone Wars veteran and rebel. Whitaker also played the role in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”

Some characters new to “Andor,” but not to the Star Wars universe as a whole will also be featured:

  • Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic – first seen in “Rogue One: Star Wars Story” and a high-ranking Director in the Empire
  • Alan Tudyk as the voice of K-2SO – a reprogrammed Imperial KX droid first seen in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”

When is ‘Andor’ set in the Star Wars timeline?

Season 1 of “Andor” is set in the year 5 BBY, while the upcoming Season 2 will cover four years, from 4 BBY to 1 BBY. The first episode of Season 2 takes place one year after the Season 1 finale.

Where does this fit into the rest of the Star Wars timeline? Let’s get into it by looking at when the films are set.

  • “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” — 32 BBY
  • “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” — 22 BBY
  • “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” — 19 BBY
  • “Solo: A Star Wars Story” — 13 BBY to 10 BBY
  • “Andor” Season 1 — 5 BBY
  • “Andor” Season 2 — 4 BBY to 1 BBY
  • “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” — 1 BBY
  • “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” — 0 BBY
  • “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” — 3 ABY
  • “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” — 4 ABY
  • “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” — 34 ABY
  • “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” — 34 ABY
  • “Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker” — 35 ABY

So, to sum up a long-winded answer in one sentence: “Andor” Season 2 begins four years before the events of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”

What does BBY mean, though?

Just as we mark years as BC or AD, years in the Star Wars timeline are marked as BBY or ABY — before the Battle of Yavin or After the Battle of Yavin.

The Battle of Yavin is depicted in the climax of “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope,” so everything set in the timeline beyond that (“The Mandalorian,” Episodes VII-IX, etc.) is considered ABY.

Will there be an ‘Andor’ Season 3?

No, Season 2 will be the last for “Andor.” The series is a prequel to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and Season 2 will lead right into the events at the beginning of that movie.

So while there won’t be a Season 3, you can still see the end of Cassian Andor’s story in “Rogue One,” also streaming on Disney+.
