No. 13-seed Hofstra enters the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament as 12.5-point underdogs to Labaron Philon Jr.’s No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide but Cruz Davis’ club could pull off an upset over their heavily-favored opponents if they continue their winning ways.
Coming into the first round of March Madness, the squad — in their first Big Dance berth since 2001 (!) — has rattled off seven consecutive victories dating back to Feb. 19.
And, while Hofstra has momentum, the Crimson Tide has the fire. They’re entering the tournament with a chip on their shoulder after having been shocked in an 80-79 loss to Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament.
“…we’re going to have to play significantly better,” head coach Nate Oats said after the stinging loss.
