The Alabama Crimson Tide are rolling into Tallahassee to kick off the 2025 season.

On Saturday, Aug. 30, Ty Simpson’s No. 8-ranked club drops into Florida State’s Doak Campbell Stadium to set the tone for the year.

2024 wasn’t a total loss for the Crimson Tide. New head coach Kalen DeBoer’s rookie campaign was solid as the team finished a respectable 9-3 before losing to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Eve. This year, the roster is stacked and expectations are high. If the team doesn’t advance to the playoffs, there may be some outcry among the ‘bama faithful.

Meanwhile, Florida State is coming off a disappointing 2-10. To combat their rocky effort, the university brought in transfer quarterback Tommy Castellanos from Boston University. A win here would be a major vote of confidence following last year’s surprise hiccup (the club went 13-1 and advanced to the Orange Bowl in ’23).

“I really like the mindset of this team, I’ve liked the way they’ve challenged each other, inspired each other, pushed each other,” head coach Mike Norvell said. “That’s something that is needed, and something this football team has really embraced.” That mindset will be put to the test today.
