After closing another chapter in their storied rivalry with the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees are heading north.
The American League Divisional Series begins tonight, Oct. 4, as the New York Yankees begin a five-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays, who the Yankees battled all season for the AL East lead. The Blue Jays clinched the division title on the final day of the regular season.
The Yankees punched their ticket to the ALDS after taking the Wild Card series to three games before eliminating the Red Sox in a 4-0 victory where rookie Cam Schlittler pitched eight shutout innings, striking out 12.
As divisional rivals, the Yankees and Blue Jays play each other often, but today’s game marks the first time that these teams will meet in the playoffs.
