Another 2025 Best Picture nominee is now available to stream at home.

You can buy or rent Chloé Zhao’s “Hamnet,” which won the Golden Globe for Best Picture – Drama, on video-on-demand (VOD) platforms like Prime Video.

The critically acclaimed film is based on the novel of the same name by Maggie O’Farrell, who penned the film’s Oscar-nominated screenplay with Zhao. “Hamnet” is a dramatization of the family life of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes as they cope with a sudden tragedy and the ways that tragedy influences one of the greatest plays ever written, “Hamlet.”

Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley star as the Shakespeares. Buckley received an Oscar nod for her work in the film after winning both the Critics’ Choice and Golden Globe in January. It is one of eight nominations “Hamnet” received, which also include Best Picture and Best Director.

noti.group’s entertainment critic Johnny Oklesinski gave “Hamnet” four stars and called it, “one of the best, most gut-punching movies of the year.”

‘Hamnet’ streaming date

If you’re reading this, you can stream “Hamnet” on-demand on platforms like Prime Video now! The “Hamnet” digital release date is today, Feb. 3.

How to watch ‘Hamnet’ on Prime Video

“Hamnet” is available for digital purchase on Prime Video. The film costs $29.99 to buy or $24.99 to rent.

While you won’t have to be a paid Amazon Prime member to buy “Hamnet,” you will need at least a free Amazon account; that way, you can return to watch “Hamnet” whenever you want to.

If you choose the rental option, you’ll have 30 days to begin watching the movie and 48 hours of access once you’ve pressed play.

‘Hamnet’ DVD and 4K release date

While you can stream “Hamnet” at home now, some may prefer a physical alternative to owning movies digitally, where there’s always the chance that rights may be revoked and you’ll lose that digital access. Physical discs are tangible proof that, as long as you have a player to play them, you’ll be able to watch the movies you own.

The 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD copies of “Hamnet” will be released on March 3, but you can preorder now on Amazon to receive your copy on release day.
