Terry Rozier will not be a member of the Heat for much longer.

Multiple outlets reported on Thursday night that the Heat are planning on waiving the embattled guard in order to create a roster spot for their playoff run.

The NBA player is on an expiring deal and the Heat would need to waive him by 5 p.m. on  April 9 in order for him to clear waivers before the end of the season, ESPN reported.

Rozier has been on indefinite leave following his October indictment for his role in an alleged illegal sports gambling ring.

He has denied any involvement in the scheme.

Rozier is accused of intentionally coming out of a game in March 2023 as part of a scheme that would have him allegedly tell a friend, who then sold the info to sports betters for them to bet the under on the hooper’s stat line.

The Heat guard was initially put on unpaid leave, but an arbitrator ruled in Rozier’s favor after the NBA Players Association filed a grievance, putting the Heat on the spot to pay Rozier the $26.6 million he’s owed on the final year of his contract.

Rozier ended up in Miami as part of a trade with the Hornets in January 2024, which has since led to a dispute between the two teams.

The Heat felt that they should have been told about the NBA and federal inquiries before the trade was made.

In order to resolve the issue, the Hornets agreed to send a second-round pick in this year’s draft to Miami.

The Heat were sitting in seventh in the East heading into their Thursday night game with the Lakers.
