The drama with Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t over, as multiple reports have suggested that the Bucks want to shut down the two-time MVP. But Antetokounmpo wants no part of it.

Antetokounmpo, 31, has dealt with a number of injuries this season, which have included his calf, groin, knee and ankle. He is now recovering from a left knee injury that he suffered during the Bucks’ win over the Pacers on Sunday.

The organization has met with Antetokounmpo several times in the last 24 hours over the idea of him sitting out the rest of the season, but he has been steadfast about getting back on the court this year as long as there was no other potential risk of injury, ESPN reported.

The outlet also reported that Antetokounmpo would be out for at least a week due to the hyperextension and a bone bruise.

Antetokounmpo has missed 32 games this season, and The Athletic reported that the franchise had made it clear that it would be in the best interest of both sides for him to sit out.

Entering Wednesday, the Bucks are 6 ½ games back of the Hornets for the East’s last NBA Play-In Tournament spot.

This latest twist comes after the Bucks star was the center of trade rumors for months, as his future in Milwaukee appeared to be up in the air.

Antetokounmpo’s injury occurred in the third quarter of the Bucks’ 134-123 win over Indiana when he landed awkwardly in the third quarter after a dunk.

He had told reporters after the game that he was “not really bothered by it at all” and that he would not be getting any imagining done.

Antetokounmpo said the medical staff convinced him to sit out the remainder of the game on Sunday, while adding that “every game is worth it.

“Every time I step on the floor, I try not to take it for granted. I appreciate just being out there, especially when I’m getting my rhythm back and I’m feeling good,” he said.

Antetokounmpo did undergo imaging, but there is no official timetable for his return.
