Lucy Burdge has declared war.
The gambling influencer and Red Sox superfan declared Cam Schlittler her enemy after the Yankees rookie dissed her following his Game 3 gem that ended Boston’s season.
“Now, I am going to be eagle-eyed watching [Schlittler],” Burdge said on the “Baseball isn’t Boring” podcast. “Because do I have some tweets in the drafts ready to go at Cam Schlittler should he do anything good or bad. Mostly bad. Because now I have a new opp — Cam Schlittler, Walpole’s own.”
Schlittler’s dominance in Game 3 helped the Yankees clinch the wild-card series over the Red Sox.
He tossed eight scoreless innings, striking out 12 while giving up just five hits and no walks.
After the game, Schlittler — a Boston native — chirped some Red Sox fans on X, including Burdge.
In response to Burdge’s post that proclaimed “Sox in 3,” Schlittler wrote “Not this year.”
“It’s not over,” Burdge continued. “And it’s only just begun. This is Day 1 of my war with Cam Schlittler. This is war. This guy can go to hell. Get out, you are just a mosquito. But now I’m like ‘OK, OK, this is war.’”
Schlittler’s meteoric rise this year earned him a spot in the playoff rotation, and he delivered one of the best postseason outings in recent Yankees memory.
“I had an opportunity to pitch to a good lineup and end their season and get bragging rights over everyone I know back home,” Schlittler said.
He recorded a 2.96 ERA in 14 starts during the regular season.
Between the regular season and his one postseason outing, the Yankees have won 10 of his 15 starts this year.
They face the Blue Jays in the ALDS, with Game 1 set for Saturday afternoon in Toronto.
