The fiancée of Irish sports star Conor Loftus has been found dead in a river tragedy in County Mayo.

Róisín Cryan, 28, was tragically recovered from the River Moy on Saturday morning, local media reports.

She was identified as the partner of Gaelic footballer Conor Loftus, 29, who plays for Crossmolina Deel Rovers.

Tributes have continued to pour in for the late Ms Cryan, remembering her as a ‘beautiful soul’ and expressing condolences for the family.

‘Deepest condolences to Róisín’s family, fiancé and friends on her tragic passing. I lived with Róisín for a while in Dublin and she was always such a lovely, kind and friendly girl,’ wrote one mourner on the rip.ie page.

‘May Róisín’s soul rest in peace. Keeping you all in my thoughts at this heartbreaking time.’

The All-Ireland intermediate football final between Ballinderry and Crossmolina Deel Rovers, scheduled for Sunday, was postponed over the ‘tragic events’ connected to the club. The club relayed requests for privacy from those affected.

Ms Cryan’s body will be taken to St Mary’s Church in Carrick-on-Shannon tomorrow, ahead of a mass and burial on Wednesday.

News of Ms Cryan’s passing resonated widely in the community.

A page set up to collect sympathetic tributes received dozens of heartfelt messages from sympathisers.

‘Roisin was such a lovely person, always with the kindest smile, remembered Shannon McDermott and Fergal Harman in a tribute post.

‘May you find comfort in the love and support around you and strength to face the days ahead. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Rest peacefully, beautiful Roisin.’

‘Thinking of Roisin, her family and partner Conor at this time. Sending all the love and strength for you to all get through this unimaginable painful time. Roisin was a beautiful and brilliant friend who would light up any room. Rest in Peace,’ wrote Yvette O’Connor.

Her death notice said she will ‘sadly missed by her heartbroken family’.

‘Forever cherished daughter of Joe and Marguerite, loving fiancé Conor Loftus, adored sisters Annmarie, Clare, Ruth and Maeve’.
