Let me make you happy.

Dermot Mulroney has confirmed an exciting update about the long-awaited “My Best Friend’s Wedding” sequel, nearly 30 years after the original rom-com was released in 1997.

“Last I heard, they hired a screenwriter,” Mulroney, 62, exclusively told The Post while promoting his newest movie, “Long Shadows.”

“That’s what I heard most recently, and that’s a very concrete step,” he continued. “Rather than somebody wanting to be in a movie, which it might have been up until then.”

Rumors that a writer was on board to pen the “My Best Friend’s Wedding” sequel kicked off in July when Collider reported that Sony tapped Celine Song for the job.

Song, 37, wrote and directed the 2023 Oscar-nominated film “Past Lives,” as well as this year’s rom-com “Materialists” with Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans.

“That’s all I know. I don’t have any insight,” Mulroney continued. “Julia [Roberts] and I have talked about it, and there’s a script being written, as far as I know.”

“You literally have to fact-check me, because what ends up happening is I say something and it becomes something,” he joked. “That’s why I’m being careful to say as far as I know.”

Still, the “Family Stone” star acknowledged that the “My Best Friend’s Wedding” sequel is as far along as it’s ever been.

“That being said, I’ve been talking about it for 20 years, and things are taking on a different sense of motion now,” Mulroney concluded.

Directed by P.J. Hogan, “My Best Friend’s Wedding” follows Jules (Roberts), a food critic who once made a pact with her best friend Michael (Mulroney) that if neither of them was married by 28, they’d marry each other.

Just as Jules hits that age, Michael calls to announce that he’s engaged to the bubbly and lovable Kimmy (Cameron Diaz).

Realizing that she’s in love with him, Jules races from New York City to Chicago and schemes to break up the wedding – all while leaning on her sharp and hilarious confidant George (Rupert Everett).

But as her plans unravel over the course of the chaotic weekend, Jules is forced to face the fallout of her meddling and accept that Michael might be better off with Kimmy.

While fans have been hoping for a follow-up ever since the original’s release 28 years ago, Mulroney confirmed there was “talk of a sequel” for the first time back in July.

“I know nothing about it,” he told The Post at the time. “Last I heard, quote, lawyers were talking, unquote.”

He went on to reflect on “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and landing the role that would go on to help shape his Hollywood career.

“Oh my gosh, the whole thing was a dream,” Mulroney said of the modern classic rom-com.

“I knew even when I got the audition for it with Julia, like waiting in line with a whole bunch of other guys, and I got the role,” he continued. “I knew – and all of Hollywood knew – it was going to be an exceptional movie.”

As for Roberts, she first confirmed she was game for a “My Best Friend’s Wedding” sequel during an episode of “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” in 2023.

“That’s a really good question, and I’ve never been asked it,” the “Pretty Woman” star, 58, responded when asked which of her films she’d like to revisit.

She then chose “My Best Friend’s Wedding” because “there are so many people” in the film and she was curious “to see what they’re doing and how Kimmy and Michael’s marriage is going.”
