Chris Canty isn’t afraid to point the finger after three years of subpar football.

The former Giants defensive end is putting the spotlight on Brian Daboll for the team’s woes that have led them to a third straight 2-7 start to the season.

Despite improvements made along the way, including finding a promising quarterback in Jaxson Dart, Canty voiced his opinion as a guest on former Jets linebacker Bart Scott’s ESPN New York radio show on Friday.

“You’ve hired and fired enough coordinators,” Canty said of Daboll. “How’d that work? Listen, you ran Wink Martindale out of town. You ran him out of town, a guy that’s damn good at his job, and it hasn’t been markedly better since.

“You can’t keep hiring and firing coordinators and pointing the finger of blame at other people. At some point, it’s your ass.”

Before the Giants make any move, Canty said the team has to make sure a new coach even makes sense.

“The CEO, or let’s just say, the president of the team, is the starting quarterback,” said Canty, who played for the Giants for four seasns from 2009-2012.

“So I think that it comes down to the quarterback,” Bart continued. “Do you want to have a new coach? What type of system are you looking for? Because yes, Daboll may not deserve to be the coach here, but you also have to ask yourself, who’s the next person?

“Like, to me, a Giants hire, because we know they’re not going to do something splashy, they’re not going to go out and get Lane Kiffin. They’ll bring in Mike McCarthy. They’ll bring somebody in like that. … What you don’t want is you don’t want some new dude learning on the job again, right?”

Dart and Daboll have been open about their close relationship throughout the season. Daboll has expressed his excitement about developing the 22-year-old as he has proven he has the chops for the NFL, especially in the team’s big win over the Eagles in Week 6.

Since a successful 2022 season that saw the Giants win their first playoff game since 2012 and a Coach of the Year honor for Daboll, the bench boss has not reached those heights again.

After the win over the Eagles, the Giants are on a three-game losing streak, only adding to the heightened scrutiny for Daboll. The Giants play the Bears on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in Chicago.
