The Eagles have a fresh face to lead their offense.

Philadelphia hired Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion as their next offensive coordinator, the team announced Thursday evening.

“I’m thrilled to have Sean Mannion on board as the new offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles,” head coach Nick Sirianni said in a statement.

“It was quickly apparent in meeting with Sean that he is a bright young coach with a tremendous future ahead of him in this league. I was impressed by his systematic views on offensive football and his strategic approach. Sean’s 11 years in the NFL have provided him a great opportunity to learn from and grow alongside some of the best coaches in the game.”

Mannion is expected to call plays with Sirianni still having an “influence” in the offense, The Athletic reported.

The terms of the contract are not clear.

Mannion, 33, takes over for the one-and-done Kevin Patullo, who was relieved of his coordinator duties earlier this month after the Eagles’ uneven season came to an abrupt end in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

Mannion, a former quarterback who played in the NFL as recently as 2023, has only been a coach for the last two seasons, first as a Green Bay offensive assistant and then as QBs coach this past season.

Under Mannion’s coaching, Packers quarterback Jordan Love threw for 3,381 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. Love’s interception rate (1.4 percent) was the lowest of his career while his completion percentage (66.3) was the highest in a full season.

The Eagles are coming off a campaign in which their offense lagged, ranking 19th in the league in points per game (22.3), 23rd in passing yards (194.3) and 24th in total yards (311.2).

Notably, Quarterback Jalen Hurts’ completion rate dropped from 68.7 in 2024 to 64.8 in 2025. He finished 11th out of 43 signal-callers according to Pro Football Focus’ grading system.

It led to questions about the team’s offensive direction, particularly one season removed from winning the Super Bowl. Receiver AJ Brown seemed particularly frustrated and buzz around a possible trade heightened before the deadline. Brown did not talk to the media after dropping multiple passes in the playoff loss, but general manager Howie Roseman tried to shut down any rumors in his season postmortem.

“It’s hard to find great players in the NFL and A.J.’s a great player,” Roseman said earlier this month. “I think from my perspective, that’s what we’re going out and looking for, when we go out in free agency and the draft, is trying to find great players who love football and he’s that guy. So that would be my answer.”
