A family in a tight-knit Fort Collins neighborhood sought to repay their community’s unofficial “handyman” by inviting him along to the nail-biter Denver Broncos playoff game Saturday.

Kevin and Kinsey Brown landed a coveted pair of tickets to the Broncos’ game against the Buffalo Bills — but balked at the idea of not inviting their neighborhood’s charitable “handyman.”

Paul Andrews is celebrated as the community’s “hero” for his consistent dedication to his neighbors.

“He’s always doing stuff for everybody. He’s always got his garage open in the neighborhood. He’s just that kind of guy that would bend over backwards and do anything for you,” Kevin told CBS News.

“Without asking, he just came out and started helping me shovel the driveway, because my husband was at work,” Kinsey added.

Kevin and Kinsey Brown decided to give one of their tickets to Andrews, a die-hard Broncos fan. CBS

Andrews is also a die-hard Broncos fan and even has the team’s logo tattooed on his bicep. So, Kinsey gladly offered to forego the game.

“I knew that I would have more joy and I’d have more fun, like seeing him get excited about it, [than] I would have fun at the game itself,” Kinsey told the outlet.

“Kinsey and I just thought, ‘Paul’s the man,’” Kevin added.

Kevin rushed to Andrews’ home and personally invited him to the game — but, ever the dutiful worker, Andrews couldn’t give him a firm answer without checking with his boss.

“He was like, ‘I might have to work that day, but I’m going to call him and tell him I’m not coming to work. I’m going to that game,’” Kevin said.

The men grabbed breakfast together before the game and parked in the stadium early, ready to cheer the Broncos on until the bitter end.

The game wound up going into overtime, and the Broncos came out on top — punching their ticket to the AFC Championship for the first time in a decade. Andrews told the outlet that Saturday’s match was the best he’d ever seen.

Andrews and Kevin said that they likely lost their voices while cheering during the game. CBS

“I was screaming with everybody else,” Andrews said.

“Yeah, I think we’re about losing our voice here,” Kevin added.

Kevin told the outlet that he was exhilarated to “be a part of Bronco nation,” especially with such “great company.”

“It’s just, it’s like you couldn’t ask for a better day,” he said.

“It was a blessing, just a blessing,” Andrews added.

The Broncos are set to face the New England Patriots on Jan. 25.
