David Stark Design and Production has claimed Prologis’s entire 31,500 square-foot industrial building at 280 Johnson Avenue in Bushwick. The property recently underwent a full-scale rehab and modernization.

David Stark is a creative agency known for design, event production and brand experiences. It will enjoy the property’s redevelopment that focused on contemporary functionality, operational efficiency and flexible floor layouts.

Prologis vice-president and leasing officer Andrew Forsyth said the project “reflects our ongoing commitment to reposition urban industrial properties to support our customers. Bushwick’s creative energy, combined with excellent regional connectivity, make this an outstanding home for a world-class design firm like David Stark.”

Prologis, a leading specialist in logistics real estate development and investment, owns or managed 207 warehouse and distribution centers in the New York-New Jersey region as of June. The company expanded its office footprint last summer with a total of 23,000 square feet at 461 Fifth Ave.

Retail news out of Gowanus is scarce, but in something of a breakthrough, 40,000 square feet have been leased at Brodsky’s and Avery Hall’s 499 President.

The new tenants are Union Market, Corto, and Spear Physical Therapy, joining Paulie Gee’s and Royal Palms Shuffleboard.

With 10,000 square feet, Union Market is the largest of the new signings. The  high-end grocery store at 532-542 Union St., adjacent to  the rental apartment building, will be the brand’s flagship. Corto will be an Italian cafe along Nevins Street, next to Spear Physical Therapy.

The 499 President project with 350 rental apartments is part of the Gowanus phenomenon that has seen thousands of new homes built along the canal.
