When Conor Sheary hoisted his first Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2016, his linemate Sunday afternoon, Rangers rookie Gabe Perreault, was in the sixth grade.
Most of the players in the lineup with him in the Blueshirts preseason opener were in middle school at that time, but the 33-year-old two-time champion has been used to such company after spending a majority of last season in the American Hockey League.
It was a transformative year that led Sheary to walk away from his contract in Tampa Bay.
Now, Sheary is looking to break back into the NHL with the Rangers by turning a professional tryout into a new contract.
