Bobby Hurley is one of the greatest point guards in college basketball history.
Despite also being a legendary coach’s son, he has had difficulty channeling his skill and intelligence as a coach. Hurley has experienced some success, but it has not fully materialized like backers have hoped.
Hurley is currently sitting on the proverbial hot seat at Arizona State, where he has coached for 11 seasons with a 178-160 record but just 84-109 in conference play.
The Sun Devils visit UCF on Tuesday as 8.5-point underdogs with a total of 164.5 points.
The Knights are coming off an impressive road win against Colorado.
I typically like backing home teams coming off an outright win as a road underdog.
Meanwhile, ASU defeated Cincinnati at home, but the Sun Devils are 0-4 on the road in conference play.
They only covered one of those and that was against rival Arizona, which did not necessitate much travel.
The other three losses were lopsided, although losing to Houston, BYU and UCLA by margin is certainly justifiable.
Betting on College Basketball?
Hurley and Arizona State have a rematch with the Wildcats on Saturday, so a disinterested performance at UCF would not surprise me.
I have a 91-79-2 ATS record in this Post sports section.
My next play is UCF -8.5 points against Arizona State.
The Play: UCF -8.5 (-115, bet365)
